An additional hosted domain has its own website configuration. An alias or domain pointer is used when another name should reach an existing website.
Steps
- Confirm that your hosting plan allows the additional domain.
- For a separate website, open Domain Setup and add the new domain. For the same website under another name, use Domain Pointers and choose the appropriate alias behavior.
- Point the domain DNS to the hosting service.
- Verify the intended content and arrange SSL coverage for the new hostname before directing visitors to HTTPS.
Good to know
Adding a domain in the Control Panel does not register it. The domain must already be registered and under your control. Review email routing and application domain settings when adding an alias.
