MX records identify the provider that receives email for a domain. Changing them is a mail migration, not just a website change.
Steps
- Create the required mailboxes at the destination provider first.
- Obtain that provider complete MX record list and priorities.
- Edit the authoritative DNS zone and replace the previous MX set with the required destination records.
- In Domatic Control Panel, review the local-mail routing setting if mail is hosted elsewhere. Ask Support when the correct routing option is unclear.
- Test incoming and outgoing mail after DNS caches update.
Good to know
Changing MX records does not move existing mailbox contents. Preserve old messages and update SPF, DKIM, or other authentication records according to the new provider instructions.
