Change nameservers for a domain Print

  • domains, Domatic

Update nameservers when deliberately moving DNS management to another provider. Keep the existing settings until you have prepared the destination zone.

Steps

  1. Record the current nameservers and all necessary DNS records.
  2. For a domain registered through Domatic, open its details in Client Portal and find the nameserver-management action. For another registrar, use that registrar account.
  3. Enter the complete nameserver hostnames supplied by the new DNS provider and save.
  4. Allow existing DNS caches to expire, then test the website, email, and other services.

Good to know

Do not replace nameservers simply to point one website record elsewhere. If DNSSEC is enabled, coordinate the DS records with the provider change so the domain does not fail validation.
