- Check the pending updates in WordPress. Test major changes on a staging copy when available.
- Apply the updates and watch for a completion result before starting other maintenance.
- Test sign-in, important pages, forms, and any shopping or booking workflow. Restore from your prepared backup or seek help if an update breaks the site.

Automatic updates can be useful, but they do not replace backup and compatibility checks. Obtain plugins and themes from trusted sources and remove unused ones.
