Backup archives can consume a large share of hosting storage. Retain useful recovery points without filling the account.
Steps
- List completed backup archives and note their dates and sizes.
- Download the copies you need and verify them before removing server copies.
- Remove only archives you have identified; do not delete unrelated application or mail folders.
- Recheck disk usage after cleanup and review whether a scheduled tool is creating new archives more frequently than expected.
Good to know
Keep backups containing customer data or credentials in a secure location. A backup filename alone does not prove that all required components were included. Confirm coverage and restoration compatibility before relying on an archive.
